Active at Fifty!

WOW!

I really don’t feel like it, but I turned 50 years young this year.

I never make a big deal out of my age, or even celebrating birthdays.  Mine was back in May.

The old adage, you are only as old as you feel… I truly believe.

And I do think my lifestyle keeps my young.

I was thinking that today as I was playing hockey, a regular pick-up rec game with 20 other guys, many of them younger than me. It feels good to still be able to skate at their speed, at least most of the time.

Being active is a big part of feeling good and being healthy.

Being positive is just as important.

A good positive mindset, reinforced daily, will keep you feeling good, and that will keep you healthy, and allow you to be active.

The weather has been great, so I also have been out on the bike and also doing a bit of hiking.

I renewed my Ski passes over the weekend. I have season passes for two of the local ski hills, Norquay and Lake Louise.

I can’t wait to get back out on the slopes. And this year I want to do more snowboarding. I ski mainly and I believe I am pretty decent skier. But it’s fun to learn new things, and I am definitely a beginner on the snowboard. So a goal this year is to get better on my snowboard.

And the best news, I acquired a hot tub on the weekend, and will be working to get it set up this week. Nothing better after an active day, whether it’s hockey, hiking, skiing, or dancing… to come home and relax in the hot tube.
