It’s common to hear that you need to be happy alone in order to be truly happy.
So much talk in the dating world about rebounding, about spending the time to truly get to know yourself.
I wonder, Is being alone that important?
What purpose does it serve.
I know people that really never spent much time alone.
They dated pretty steady when young, married young, and they are happy in their marriage.
Also know people who came out of a long term marriage, right into another relationship, and they are happy.
But I also have talked to many people and they swear that the time they spent alone, not with anyone, was the most profound time in their life.
It allowed them to accept themselves. To grow.
What is the purpose of being alone?
Is it simply to adjust to loneliness?
Is it to learn about other types of friendships, so as not to rely on a single relationship?
It is something I have thought a lot about, and I have no real answer.
Honestly, in my heart, I don’t see the value in being alone.
Not that I have to be with someone, I just don’t think choosing to be alone, for no reason, has value for me.
I am open to learn more, to try… maybe it will change me in some way.
What do you think? Is being alone important?
